Water flow: medium
Water condition: stained

Emergers and midges have been the ticket. In the heat of the midday sun, go small! For full report by Chris go to http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=5920
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
The Upper Red was beautiful.
Catching my biggest smallie and white bass to date wasn’t so bad either.
The company was kind of nice.
Super messy BBQ sammies and scouting primo water in the rain made it the perfect day.
Try this when trout are feeding in the middle of the water column! Great tips from Gink and Gasoline as always!

Finally round the clock generation has stopped! In lower water fishing emergers should be red hot. In higher flows streamers should be on point. Fishing is about to be bangin’!! Bugs should be everywhere. The next few weeks should be unbelievable!!

Water flow: High

Before long we should start seeing shut off periods with generation. When you find these, you should do well with emergers.

For those of you that have fished with us over the last couple of years you are probably aware that when the Rouses are not fishing they are more than likely playing disc golf.
This past week we got to spend several days with Nate Sexton and his family. For those of you that aren’t cool enough to play disc golf, Nate Sexton is one of the greatest disc golfers in the world and is the 2017 US Disc Golf Champion. For me this was freaking awesome! The weather and generation while they were here didn’t lend itself to tons of fly fishing, but we were able to get out and get several fish during a break in some of the storms. But we had a tremendous time my family hanging with his. We got to enjoy meals, casual rounds of golf hanging playing The Sexton prototype disc golf board game. Allie actually won the round. It inspired both of our kids to create their own. This weekend Nate and fam will be in Jonesboro showing his stuff. If you have an opportunity come out and see what these guys can do, it’ll blow you away! FYI I’ll be on the bag Sunday caddying for Nate, and yes, I am super pumped!
Jamie
PS: I may or may not have thrown a couple of dreaded throllers in front of Nate.

In lower flows nymphing and small streamers are working well. Stripping emerges and buggers through deeper pools is producing nice fish. Full report at http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=5920
Impromptu road trips are the best!
We had such a blast taking advantage of a day off and heading to Dry Run. It was freezing but so much fun! Little Miss plans to do more fishing during warmer temps. T was an ice cube by the end of the day.
Fish happy!

You gotta move! Great tips from Gink & Gasoline as you head to the weekend!
Fieldwork is tough, but someone has to do it…
We have been ready for a break in the icy temps sans snow around here, and we finally got it the other day. So, the stars aligned with most of our schedules, and we hit the river. Missing was Jordan, who was on another part of the river guiding and Tony, who was out of town. Jack joined the team and logged some good time on the oars in Chris’ drifter. Jamie hopped in the boat with Chris and Jack. They landed some nice ones.
In the other boat I netted two beautiful browns right out of the gate. I caught a few more and then made Cameron fish so that I could work on my rowing. He didn’t have to crank the engine once, so that was a win!
As always, we had a blast and can’t wait for the next time. On a side note, we are taking it to the next level with our disc golf game. Tony and I lost to Jamie and Jack by only one stroke. We’ll get them next time. Jamie has his sights on the pro tour. If nothing else, it’s always good to cross train.
Fish happy,
Kati

Dang, it’s been cold! Saturday, gets back up to 50. Yea!!! I suspect once temperatures start to warm, we will see generation slow down on the Little Red. The forecast is looking great. Let’s go fish!

Super tips for fly selection from @ginkandgasoline!
Hope everyone has had a great holiday! Now, it’s time to get serious!
As I say every year, we are entering my favorite season to fish. From now until April we will be focusing on large predatory browns looking to fatten up post spawn. We also expect to jump in to some cool “shad kill” action during this time of year. We have some great dates left. Don’t miss out! It seems the biggest fish we catch every year come in the next few months…
Enjoy this gallery from the past several weeks of fishing!
See you soon,
Jamie

If you try and throw streamers while wading, it’s best to look for a line that has a floating running line. This insures that the running line does not sink around your feet between casts. For full report by Capt. Rouse go to http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=5920

It is important that your fly is getting down. Carry lots of different size split shot to dial in the perfect amount of weight. For full report go to http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=5920http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=5920
