Little Red Fishing Report 5.17.17

Fishing conditions: Good

Fishing is great! Greers Ferry is still holding at 8 feet above power pool. It’s looking pretty good compared to lakes to the north that are seeing much higher levels. Everything is shaping up to be a great summer, so get in on the action.

Nymph bite has been strong using sowbugs, scuds and an occasional midge dropper. Also try fishing single flies with no dropper. Sometimes this works better, depending on conditions.

Fishing has been great on the Little Red and Norfork Rivers the past few weeks. Nymphing being the most productive bite. Wadable water can be found on the Little Red during the week, but it’s short lived before the next round of water hits. Sowbugs, scuds and a midge you feel confident with should do the trick.

Little Red River Fishing Report 12.14.16

Fishing conditions: good

Water flow: low to high on weekdays, low on weekends

Visibility: 54 inches

Water condition: clear

Water temp at midday: 53 degrees F

Nymphing has been very successful the last couple of weeks. There can still be some wadable water on water flows, if you know where to go. Midges close to the bottom are working well there. Streamers on high water are productive as well. This can be applied to the Norfork as well.

When using an indicator, match indicator size and rig weight as closely as possible. the bigger the indicator, the more aggressive the take has to be for it to work well. I like using Orvis pinch on indicators for low to medium flows. Subtle takes are easily seen with the softer material. If one of the stick ons isn’t floating well enough, add a second about 3 inches behind it.

Give dead drifted nymphs and wets subtle action while wading and float fishing for vigorous strikes. Swinging size 16/18 mergers in the tailouts and riffles has been hot!

When fishing in areas where spawning fish may be present, it is crucial that anglers gain knowledge on how to navigate the river. Avoid rowing your boat through redds. When wading, do not walk through redds.

Little Red Fishing Report 3.10.16

We are in the middle of a rain event. With daily generation portions of the river are staying pretty clear. I would imagine that eventually we are going to see more water being released. Right now, conditions are pretty dang good. Come get you some!!

It is currently one unit around the clock, but we are expecting at some point (probably in the next week) for flood gates to go online. Right now, fishing is on point!
