Protecting our home waters for future generations.
For those of you who have been to the Little Red River, you know how special it is. We want to keep it that way and even improve its quality. Our team is so excited about the Little Red River Foundation and its shared passion for our beloved river. We think that this group will be effective in accomplishing great things for the Little Red.
Pictured above is the youngest Rouse at age 4 working on his roll cast and snagging a few trout in the process.

Happy Veteran’s Day from Small Town USA.
Sneak peek of the lanyard production. You can find them in our Gear Shop.
In other news Mr. Squeaky thought the Captain’s seat would be good for a cat nap. We seem to have some feral cats at one of our boat ramps, and Squeaky was one of them. Jamie rescued him almost a year ago. He is awesome.
Serious pumpkin carving.
Happy Halloween!
SPENDING DAYS WITH DAVE
Over the last several years I have had the pleasure of becoming much closer to one of the industry’s (as well as my own) mentors. If for some reason you are not familiar with Dave Whitlock, I’ll give you the Reader’s Digest version. Grandfather to American flyfishing, Ozark’s native son, incredible artist, environmentalist, conservationist, and still one of the sweetest casters you will ever see. Of course, the list goes on. Enough about Dave, what about Emily? Emily is a great angler (one of the best I have ever fished with), a conservationist, and much more. Her passion for the sport and protecting where the fish live, is contagious. I could goo on for pages. They are both great anglers and human beings. Together they are amazing. Any time the Whitlocks get on my schedule, I look forward to it with youthful, giddy anticipation.
The Whitlocks will be around quite a bit in the near future. They are going to be helping the Little Red River Foundation with some projects on the river. If you are not a member, why not? Please consider becoming one. Here is the link: http://www.lrrf.org
Happy Halloween!

Always time for reflection.
Fall on the Little Red
From the @fayettechillco photo shoot. Nice work by @samjmatthews. Capt. Rouse looks pretty good too. I’m loving the plaid.
Fayettechill Fall Photo Shoot
The FC boys were back in town this past weekend for the fall shoot with Capt. Rouse in the new winter 15 line, which is super cool by the way. Mo, Olive, Devin, and Sam J Matthews (aka Samjay–new nickname compliments of Jamie. I think it’s going to stick) arrived Sunday just before sundown. Devin got a quick run in on my favorite course while Samjay, Mo and Olive dld a little fishing. We enjoyed pork t and steak sliders and a fresh salad. I apologize to all you vegetarians and vegans out there. I’ve been a bit carnivorous lately, which has helped with my low iron. Not to get sidetracked, but this will be beneficial as marathon training begins at the end of this month. Yikes!
We had a ridiculously massive bonfire due to huge logs from pine trees we had to cut down because of pine beetles. It was magical with the blood moon and eclipse. We had the pop up palace set up as our guesthouse lit with white string lights. Our friend, Chris, played his guitar by the fire while the pups and kids played. Good times!
We came out like a herd of turtles on Monday morning. I had to get kids to school. Tony and Chris were meeting us at the ramp with the driftboat. We loaded all the gear. I made the lunch and we were off. Now that the kids are older, I am getting to do a little more field work. I am loving it! Clearly, I haven’t mastered the new camera, but I’m working on it. Anyway, it was a fun day of fishing for everyone. I got a little rowing in, and Mo even took a turn at the oars. Olive had a blast and is quite possibly the perfect boat dog.
Looking forward to seeing the photos from samjmatthews. Thanks fayettechillco for a great weekend.
Fish happy,
