COLORADO!
We arrived in southern Colorado with the door falling off the pop up while I was driving the truck pulling the pop up pulling the driftboat stopped on the curvy highway as workmen repaired the mountain where large boulders had recently fallen and set up camp in the Rio Grande National Forest. Capt. Rouse repaired the door. He’s kind of like MacGyver, which came in handy since the pop up wouldn’t pop up as we were setting up camp after dark. We lucked out with probably the best campsite ever with our own side of the mountain and section of the Conejos River. The next day the boys went to the river where Little Man threw rocks and sticks from sun up to sun down. (Sorry Leave No Trace. At least he didn’t pick any wildflowers). Little Miss battled with altitude sickness most of the morning and asked numerous times if we could pack up and go home. She rallied for an impressive hike and thought this was the best place in the world. We ended the day with a magical campfire followed by an excellent night’s sleep in our pop up palace. I am amazed at the comfort of the dense foam on plywood. The fresh air and stars aren’t too bad either. The sound sleeping was in spite of the fact that there was probably a mountain lion in the area as Capt. Rouse had smelled a strong scent on our little section of river. Stay tuned for part 3 of our journey in the Yampa Valley. Happy camping! Kati
Brown trout goodness on the Little Red with Capt. Rouse. Thanks to Andy Yambrek for putting this together. Enjoy!
Fun times on the Little Red. Jamie and Matt are getting ready for our Colorado adventure. Tony has already arrived in Alaska. Jordan will hold the fort down for the next few weeks. He has just a few spots left. Happy Friday! Happy Fishing!
Cool video from the team at Headhunters Fly Shop for the Orvis Down The Hatch Film Festival in Missoula Montana.

A few of us have these browns dialed in with the crazy water flow as you can see here with Matt.
In other news off the river, Matt managed to squeeze in a little riding time with Lance Armstrong.
Just a whole lot of awesomeness for your Thursday enjoyment. Have a great weekend.
Fish and bike happy!

Browns have been chomping on these cloudy days.
Megan Boyd was a dedicated conservationist and fly tyer that tied flies for almost six decades. She never fished a day in her life. Check out this beautiful film about her work.
Sam Vester, 86, can outcast most. His group had a great couple of days on the Little Red. Here are the current conditions:
Little Red River Fishing Report
4.29.15
Water flow: medium high
Visibility: 52 inches
Water temp at midday: 52 degrees F
Water condition: clear
The bite has been best with a little cloud coverage. I would imagine 1 generator most of the day will be the norm.

Quick trip to Memphis for Orvis Days with a streamer talk by Capt. Rouse. This was actually the first time I have heard him speak–and I got some great tips for tackling streamers while wading! The next day we went to Paulette’s. Sunday brunch is always fun!
On another note someone has a new camera and someone found a caterpillar. Gus was not interested in either. Fish happy! Kati
Streamer fishing has been off the hook! All these fish and more were caught on Thursday. It was a banner day!
For all you Memphians Capt. Rouse will be doing a streamer casting presentation at Orvis Memphis tonight. See you there!
